Name: Dive into "Turtles: Secrets of the Shell" This Spring
Date: March 6, 2018 - May 28, 2018
Event Description:

This is a traveling exhibit at the Conservation Education Center at Marr Park through Memorial Day weekend. It is provided for Iowa nature centers courtesy of the National Mississippi Museum and Aquarium in association with the Smithsonian Institution and the Resource Enhancement and Protection Act.

Visitors will learn all about turtles and their adaptations, as well as our local turtles right here in Iowa. The exhibit has a large sit-on turtle and a try-on turtle shell, which both make great photo ops for the kids! There are shells from various species of turtles to examine, games, activity pages, and we even have a few live turtle specimens.

"Turtles: Secrets of the Shell" is on display currently during normal center hours which are Tuesday through Saturday from 8 am to 4:30 pm. Summer hours will begin May 1 and the center will then be open from 10:am to 6:30 pm Thursday through Monday, except for 1 pm to 5 pm Sunday.

Marr Park is located one mile west of Ainsworth and 6 miles east of Washington on Highway 92. The center is located at the south end of the park. For more information contact the Conservation Board at 319-657-2400 or email This event has a Google Hangouts video call. Join:
